According to reports, the Supreme Judicial Council has proposed candidates for the vacant position of judge in the Civil and Administrative Chamber of the Court of Cassation, including Judge Samvel Grigoryan, Council member Armen Haykyants, and Judge Arsen Mkrtchyan. Meanwhile, Lilit Tadevosyan has been nominated for the position of President of the Court of Cassation; however, the process from the National Assembly has not yet taken place and is included in the agenda for the sessions that started on January 18.

So who are the candidates? Armen Haykyants, a member of the Supreme Judicial Council, was appointed as a temporary member by President Armen Sarkissian, as the My Step faction failed to find a candidate. If Armen Haykyants is not elected as a judge of the Court of Cassation, he will return to his academic career, leaving the position in the Council still vacant.

Moreover, according to information obtained by the newspaper 'Jamanak', regardless of whether Haykyants becomes a judge or not, the position of the scientific member of the Supreme Judicial Council remains open, and political authorities have decided to appoint Davit Khachatryan, the brother of the Head of the Special Investigation Service, Sasun Khachatryan, to this position.

It should be noted that Davit Khachatryan is the chairman of the board of the 'Open Society Foundations - Armenia', a foundation linked to George Soros.
