Joe Biden Assumes Office as 46th President of the United States
The 46th President of the United States, Joe Biden, has officially assumed the responsibilities of the office. According to CNN, he took the oath of office in the presence of Chief Justice John Roberts.
Biden was sworn in using a family Bible, which he also used during his swearing-in ceremonies as Vice President in 2009 and 2013.
The inauguration also saw the swearing-in of Kamala Harris, the country’s first female Vice President, who is also the first woman of Black and Asian descent to hold the position. Her oath was administered by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
