We have installed complete electric wires to prevent our livestock from going down to the gorge, says the mayor of Shurnukh

In the Shurnukh community of the Syunik region, electric wires have been installed in certain areas of the border to prevent livestock from crossing into territories passed to Azerbaijan. This was stated by the mayor, Hakob Arshakyan, in an interview with NEWS.am.

“We have pulled complete electric wires in that section so that our livestock do not go down to the gorge,” said Hakob Arshakyan.

The mayor noted that after part of the village was passed to Azerbaijan, no incidents have been recorded, and the situation is calm. “Currently, we are working on the water issue for the evacuated citizens; we are relocating the water supply from the Nekevi neighborhood,” he added.

The mayor also mentioned that Armenian border guards are monitoring the area.
