Prosecutor's Office Refers Publications Regarding Mirzoyan's Alleged Role as Turkish Intelligence Agent to NSS

The Republic of Armenia's Prosecutor's Office has referred the publications regarding the National Assembly President Ararat Mirzoyan’s alleged connection as an agent for Turkish intelligence services to the National Security Service (NSS).

Gor Abrahamyan, the advisor to the Prosecutor General, told Aysor.am, “It is necessary to investigate the presence of criminal composition in accordance with Articles 180 and 181 of the Criminal Procedure Code and the question of whether to initiate a criminal case or not.”

It is worth noting that former Armenian Ambassador to the Holy See, Mikayel Minasian, stated that Ararat Mirzoyan has been an agent for Turkey for many years. Additionally, he published evidence suggesting Mirzoyan’s agency.

Later, the NSS rejected the claims. “The NSS officially informs that the information published by former Ambassador Mikayel Minasian regarding the National Assembly President Ararat Mirzoyan being an agent for special services and other related documents is clearly false and has no relation to reality,” stated the NSS in its announcement.

Mirzoyan himself addressed the incident, denying that he is an agent. Mikayel Minasian has suggested that a handwriting analysis be conducted on Ararat Mirzoyan’s writings.

According to reports, a service inquiry has been initiated at the NSS to determine the source of the leak regarding the allegations of Mirzoyan being a double agent. However, the NSS neither confirmed nor denied the authenticity of the news.
