Actor Vigen Stepanyan Passes Away

Vigen Stepanyan, an actor, director, and Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia, has died from a brain stroke at the age of 68.

In 1973, Vigen Stepanyan joined the actor's studio at the K. Stanislavsky Theatre in Yerevan, where he worked as an actor until 1977. From 1977 to 1989, he served as an actor at the Sundukyan National Academic Theatre of Yerevan. In 1989, he founded the "Ardzagank" Theatre-Studio, which became the foundation for the "Metro" Theatre in 1991, where he served as artistic director and director until 1994. He worked in Lebanon from 1994 to 2003. Upon returning to Armenia in 2003, he resumed his role as artistic director of the "Metro" Theatre.

In 2007, he worked as a guest actor and director in various theatres. In October 2014, Vigen Stepanyan was appointed as a director at the Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet. He performed over 100 roles in various theatres and staged 43 performances in different countries and languages, and starred in nearly 50 films produced by various studios in the USSR, appearing in over 60 television shows. For three years, he was the main director for the "Yerevan-Erebuni" celebration. He wrote and staged more than 10 plays and directed two short films and one feature film based on his script.
