Why the Mayor's Permanent Vacation Seems Endless

It seems that the whims of Yerevan's Mayor Hayk Marutyan know no bounds. First, it should be noted that throughout his tenure, the mayor has worked on breaks, and one could say he has worked only a handful of days in office.

As you may recall, since his appointment, Marutyan has constantly gone on vacations, and he is rarely seen in his office at City Hall. He is sometimes in contact, other times an infection carrier, and often a fatigued official. Additionally, the mayor has missed several city council meetings and has been late on occasion.

Currently, there are reports circulating that he does not wish to participate in the city council meeting scheduled for January 22, citing strained relations with the authorities. We have learned that Marutyan was in Prague, has just returned to Armenia, and it is still unclear when he will show up for work. Hundreds of documents are awaiting his signature, yet the mayor is on vacation for 'important matters.'

The newspaper 'Joghovurd' attempted to clarify with Hayk Marutyan's press secretary Hakob Karapetyan when the mayor would return to work and whether he would attend the upcoming city council meeting. However, the mayor’s staff, known for unreliability, mirrored his actions. The spokesperson refused to answer our verbal inquiries.
