Stolen Siamese Cat Figurine from Gevorg Emin Monument in Lover's Park
In Yerevan's Lover's Park, on January 14, an unknown individual or individuals stole the Siamese cat figurine that is part of the monument to the renowned Armenian poet Gevorg Emin. This is reported by shamshyan.com.
Following orders from the head of the Arabkir police division, Armen Vatyan, police officers arrived at Lover's Park to document the theft, and an investigation is underway.
The monument is made of bronze and depicts poet Gevorg Emin stepping out of a river with his trousers slightly rolled up, holding an apple, and conversing with his cat. The sculpture was created by Ashot Aramyan, who resides in Moscow and has known the famous poet since childhood. In creating the statue, he aimed to emphasize Emin's humanity and simplicity: “There was nothing pathos in him, only a desire to relate to people, humanitarianism, and great love. The cat is also a real character. Gevorg Emin had a unique Siamese cat that loved to peel sunflower seeds and enjoyed sitting on the poet's shoulder.”
