Snow Falls in Vardenyats Pass, Saravan-‘Zanger’ Section

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that there are closed roads within the territory of Armenia. In the Aragatsotn region, the roads from the ‘Amberd’ high mountain meteorological station to Amberd Fortress and to Kkari Lake are closed.

Due to blasting operations, the M-6 interstate highway will be closed from the Haghpat intersection to the Neghots section on January 15, from 13:30 to 17:00.

Snow is falling in the Vardenyats Pass, particularly in the Saravan-‘Zanger’ section, in the regions of Aparan and Aragats in Aragatsotn, in Jermuk in Vayots Dzor, in Hrazdan and Charentsavan in Kotayk, and in Gyumri and Amasia in Shirak.

There is a snowstorm in Artik and Maralik in Shirak, as well as in the villages of Akhuryan and Ashotzk.

Regarding Lars, according to information from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Emergency Department and the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations’ Crisis Management Center in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for all types of vehicles due to avalanche danger. Additionally, there are 100 trucks piled up on the Russian side.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, the decision to prohibit foreigners from entering Georgia remains in force. The ban does not apply to cargo transport.

Drivers are advised to travel only with winter tires.
