Armed Attack on Opposition Party Vice President in Turkey
Selcuk Ozdagh, one of the vice presidents of the opposition 'Future' (Gelecek) Party, was attacked by five individuals armed with weapons and wooden clubs in Turkey. As a result of the attack, Ozdagh sustained serious injuries to his hand and head and has been hospitalized. This was reported by Ermenihaber.am.
In connection with the incident, Selim Temurcin, another vice president of the 'Future' Party, published a statement on Twitter. According to Temurcin, the attack occurred on January 15 at around 12:15 PM in front of Ozdagh's house as he was attempting to leave for a mosque to participate in the Friday prayer.
The party has strongly condemned the attack, stating that it was aimed at Turkey's democracy and expressed hope that the perpetrators would be arrested immediately.
It is noteworthy that just a month ago, on January 8, 2020, another vice president of the same party, Ayhan Sefer Ustun, was attacked at his home.
