I Hosted the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports and the Chairman of the State Committee of Science in the Commission

The Chairman of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth, and Sports of the National Assembly of Armenia, Mkhihtar Hayrapetyan, reports: "The Standing Committee of the National Assembly of Armenia continues targeted discussions on the package of draft laws on 'Higher Education and Science' and related laws. In particular, yesterday I hosted the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Vahe Dumanyan, the Chairman of the State Committee of Science, Sargis Hayotsyan, and other responsible officials in the committee.

The working meeting was also attended by Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, and MP Hakob Aslanyan. The discussion mainly revolved around several key issues related to the effective management and legislative regulations of the higher education and science sectors. These issues include the feasibility of regulating the sectors of higher education and science under a single law, questions related to effective management and risks, mechanisms for cooperation among 'State-University-Science-University-Industry', defining the participation and responsibility framework of the mentioned parties in higher education, the establishment of qualification and degree classification models in the fields of higher education and science and their advantages and obstacles, issues related to the governance bodies and council formations of universities and scientific structures, establishing effective mechanisms for selection or appointment, fostering diversity in student unions, activating youth initiatives, consolidating professional potential and its targeted use, and other matters.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue joint work on these issues."
