Georgian Citizens Unable to Cross Armenian Border: 'Georgia Online'

The portal 'Georgia Online' reports that citizens from other countries can cross the Armenian-Georgian border through land crossings to enter Armenia. The condition is that they must have a document confirming a negative laboratory test for COVID-19 using the polymerase chain reaction method (conducted no more than 72 hours prior). Otherwise, sampling will be conducted at the crossing point, and the individual is required to self-isolate until a negative result for the coronavirus test is obtained.

After the information was published, many Georgian citizens contacted the Jnews Armenian-Georgian editorial office to inquire whether they can leave the country. The government hotline informed JNEWS that Georgian citizens cannot cross the border with either Armenia or Russia as long as Georgia has not opened its borders with these countries. As an exception, they can cross the border only if they apply to the Armenian embassy in Georgia for travel to Armenia, and to the Russian mission for travel to Russia. However, at this moment, Georgian citizens cannot cross these borders.
