No Complications Recorded for Those Vaccinated with Sputnik V, Says Gayane Sahakyan

No complications have been recorded among individuals vaccinated with the Russian-produced Sputnik V vaccine in Armenia. This was stated by Gayane Sahakyan, Deputy Director of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health, during a press conference held at the Armenpress office, where she also mentioned that she was among those vaccinated.

“We have received assistance for 15 individuals, yes, besides the Minister of Health, other people have been vaccinated as well, including myself. No adverse post-vaccination events have been recorded in anyone. Even the commonly mentioned reaction, which can cause redness and local pain at the injection site, has not been noted,” said Gayane Sahakyan.

According to her, they have the clinical trial data for Sputnik V, which indicates that the effectiveness after the first dose is assessed at 91.4 percent, while it reaches 94 percent after the second dose. “One more clarification is that the vaccine primarily prevents mortality and severe clinical manifestations. A person may get infected and have a mild clinical course, but that does not mean that the vaccine is ineffective,” Gayane Sahakyan explained.
