Large Shipment of School Furniture Headed from the Netherlands to Armenia

A large quantity of high-quality school furniture is being shipped from the Netherlands to Armenia, including 1,700 tables, over 1,700 chairs, 75 teachers' desks and chairs, nearly 20 office desks, more than 200 computers, 1,700 steel student lockers, about 60 blackboards, 30 bookshelves, and everything else needed for a school with 1,700 students. The containers are still being loaded, and final quantities may change after re-evaluation.

The furniture has been donated by our compatriot Tavros Aslanyan, a member of the Amstelveen City Council in the Netherlands, on behalf of Hermann Wesselink College (the school building is set to be dismantled, and the Dutch are generously donating all of the furniture to rural schools in Armenia).

“We anticipate that the school furniture donated from just one Dutch school will fully furnish more than 15 regional schools (the lists of schools are still in the approval phase). We deem it important to note that we expect the cooperation of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, the Diaspora Office, and most importantly, customs, to deliver this charitable and vital furniture to our Armenian children as soon as possible,” the statement reads.
