Goris Mayor Has No Positive Expectations from the Pashinyan-Aliyev-Putin Meeting

The situation in Syunik remains the same; nothing has changed in a positive way, Goris Mayor Arush Arushanyan told Aysor.am. When asked what expectations he had from yesterday's trilateral meeting between Pashinyan, Aliyev, and Putin, Arushanyan responded: "If I do not accept this government, if they have exhausted themselves, what expectations should I have? Our community has responded in a way that there are no expectations, that it will only be negative. I believe we witnessed that. The defeated leader was there with a defeated posture, which is not characteristic of Armenians; this is a matter of our nation's honor. I had no expectations in a positive sense that this individual could resolve issues in favor of our country, our state, and statehood."

The Goris Mayor emphasized that if Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan were a problem-solving leader, the country would not have found itself in this situation. "We have lost a significant part of Artsakh. Expecting anything positive from that person, I think, is absurd," he noted.

In response to a remark that today the Human Rights Defender announced that armed Azerbaijanis are regularly appearing on the roads from Goris to Vorotan, Shurnukh, and Kapan, and whether the situation is concerning and poses a threat to the people of Syunik, Arush Arushanyan replied: "Let's say, if you leave your house and witness the enemy just a few meters away, therefore, to be confident that there will be no danger, is unreasonable. There is no logic; the person is armed, is right in front of you, and is your enemy. What will happen, I think it's inappropriate to engage in guessing."

During his last visit to Syunik, Nikol Pashinyan could not be in Goris, Kapan, Kajaran, and Meghri, and he promised that he owes one visit. Is Syunik waiting for the Prime Minister? The Goris Mayor responded.
