Roads Open on the Basis of Parity Principle: Arman Yeghoyan
Parliament member and chairman of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration Arman Yeghoyan made a post on his Facebook page, stating in particular:
“For several weeks, media monopolists have been disturbing the nerves of the public with fictitious topics about transferring this or that village, city, or area of Armenia to Azerbaijan; whether it be villages in Tavush, Tigranashen, Meghri, corridors, or kitchens.
As a result, what became clear? It became clear that the transport hubs of the region are being unblocked. In other words, Armenia and Azerbaijan mutually allow each other to use the transportation infrastructure located on their territory. Importantly, no part of this infrastructure has any different status compared to the other.
The statement does not mention any type of corridor, passage, channel, or shortcut at all. In other words, the roads are opening based on the principle of parity, meaning that to the extent that we have the right to use their roads, they have the same extent of rights to use our roads. That’s all.
Some may say that this is more beneficial to Armenia than Azerbaijan. Others may claim that this is more advantageous to Azerbaijan than to Armenia. Yet, some may argue that this is equally beneficial to both. However, that would be a completely different conversation unrelated to the media terror that has plagued our society in recent days.”
