Azerbaijan and Russia Got What They Wanted, While the Prime Minister Acknowledged That Issues Remained Unresolved

Azerbaijan and Russia received what they wanted from this meeting, while the Prime Minister of Armenia only acknowledged that the two issues he raised—the status of Artsakh and the exchange of prisoners—remained unresolved. I assume they were not even seriously discussed. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, head of the ‘Henaket’ Center, on his Facebook page.

“From the joint press conference of the three leaders—Pashinyan, Putin, and Aliyev—it became clear that the focus of the discussion was on issues related to the regulation of regional economic relations: opening communications, infrastructure, and international transportation, with only general statements regarding regional security and mechanisms for its provision. All this comes at a time when, prior to this meeting, Nikol Pashinyan had presented the return of prisoners and the bodies of the fallen as a precondition, and that only after a full resolution of these issues should substantial discussions on opening communications take place,” noted Abrahamyan.
