Passenger Plane Crashes in Indonesia: The First Major Aviation Disaster of 2021

The connection with a Sriwijaya Air Boeing 737 plane was lost just 4 minutes after takeoff from Jakarta, Indonesia's capital. At the time of losing contact, the aircraft was at an altitude of 3,000 meters.
The plane was en route to Pontianak, the capital of West Kalimantan province. Indonesian authorities have already confirmed this information to the media. The Indonesian newspaper Republika reports that there were 59 passengers on board, including 6 children.
