Two Public Servants Arrested in Harant Dink Murder Case

A Turkish court has decided to arrest two former public servants in the case of the murder of Armenian-Turkish journalist, founder, and former editor of the "Agos" newspaper, Hrant Dink, on January 6. This was reported by Ermenihaber.am.

The two former officials from the Turkish gendarmerie's intelligence service, Veysal Şahin and Volkan Şahin, were detained for being aware of the murder plot and concealing it. The investigation revealed that these officials were aware of the conspiracy to murder Dink but took no action.

Accordingly, the Istanbul court has arrested them. The next court hearing in Dink's case is scheduled for January 8.

It is noteworthy that Hrant Dink was murdered on January 19, 2007, in front of the "Agos" newspaper office located in the Şişli district of Istanbul, by 16-year-old Turkish nationalist Ogun Samast.
