The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, expects that in 2021, the situation in the territory of the former Soviet Union will be generally stable. Lavrov stated this in an interview with the TASS agency.
“We expect the situation in the former USSR territory to be overall stable. There are bases for that. For example, thanks to Russia's consistent efforts, it has been possible to achieve a ceasefire in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. The trilateral statement signed on November 9 creates preconditions for the long-term, comprehensive resolution of the crisis around Nagorno-Karabakh, based on just principles and in the interests of the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples,” Lavrov said.
