Stabbing in Ijevan: Victim is a Lawyer, Suspect Transferred to Psychiatric Hospital

The Tavush regional investigative department of Armenia's Investigative Committee is preparing materials regarding a dispute, assault, and stabbing that occurred in Ijevan on December 28, as reported by SHAMSHYAN.com.

At around 11:45 AM, the duty unit of the Tavush regional police received a report of a stabbing on Independence Street in Ijevan.

Police and investigators established that on the same day, around 11:30 AM, a dispute had arisen between two residents of Independence Street in Ijevan: 32-year-old Arman Manukyan and 53-year-old Karen Ghalumyan. During the altercation over domestic issues, according to preliminary information, K. Ghalumyan hit A. Manukyan on the head with a stone. Following this, A. Manukyan pursued K. Ghalumyan and, at the intersection of A. Melikbekyan and Independence Streets, struck K. Ghalumyan with a stick, causing him to lose his balance and fall. Afterwards, A. Manukyan stabbed K. Ghalumyan in the left hand with a knife, resulting in injuries.

Police and investigators also found the knife and stick used in the crime. According to photojournalist reports, K. Ghalumyan is a lawyer from the Bar Association, while A. Manukyan, who was apprehended by the police and presented to the investigative department, has been transferred to a psychiatric hospital.
