Earthquakes Continue in Croatia, Serbian Village Devastated
Today, new seismic tremors were recorded in Croatia with magnitudes of 4.6 and 4.1. The epicenters were again located not far from the city of Sisak.
According to the EMSC (European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre), 58 earthquakes have occurred in Croatia over the last 56 hours. The most recent was recorded 29 km from Zagreb.
The updated casualty figures indicate 7 fatalities. In the Serbian village of Mačka Poljana, 2 girls and 5 men lost their lives.
The most significant destruction has occurred in the cities of Petrinja and Sisak and surrounding villages. The Serbian village of Mačka Poljana, located not far from Petrinja, has been heavily impacted; there is not a single house that has not been damaged or destroyed.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has requested his government to allocate 1 million euros to the Croatian authorities as aid following the series of earthquakes in the country.
