Prosecutor's Office Chooses 'Facebook' Justice. Supreme Judicial Council Responds to Prosecutor's Advisor
The head of the Press and Public Relations Service of the Supreme Judicial Council, Arman Khachatryan, has issued a statement.
“I have read the ‘concerns’ published by the spokesperson of the Prosecutor General's Office on Facebook regarding a specific judicial act. The Prosecutor's Office is the body that best understands all the tools for appealing judicial acts that it deems unlawful; however, in this case, it has chosen ‘Facebook’ justice. This inevitably raises questions: is this format now considered acceptable? If so, I ask you to publish a list of judicial acts that you are inclined to engage in public discussions about on the internet,” the statement from Khachatryan reads.
Earlier, the spokesperson of the Prosecutor General's Office, Gor Abrahamyan, had made a post on Facebook regarding the decision of the Yerevan City First Instance General Jurisdiction Court, which rejected the preliminary investigation body’s request to impose pre-trial detention on S.K., who was accused in a criminal case of calling for a coup during the rally held in Republic Square. According to Abrahamyan, the court made this decision in a situation where the presence of a large number of illegal weapons and ammunition in the republic after the war is evident.
