Stabbing in Gavar: The Victim is the Son of the Noratus Village Mayor

On December 26, a stabbing incident occurred in the Gegharkunik region. At 14:30, the Gavar medical center informed the police department that a young man had been transferred with serious injuries, including a "cut and punctured wound on the upper right thigh and chest."

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the victim has been identified as 18-year-old Hakob Harutyunyan, a resident of Noratus village in the Gegharkunik region. While doctors were providing assistance to the injured, the regional police swiftly investigated and found that around 14:00 on the same day, a confrontation occurred between Harutyunyan and his fellow villager, 16-year-old Hrach Khachatryan, in an area adjacent to the Gavar auto-transport company. During the altercation, Khachatryan reportedly assaulted Harutyunyan with a knife.

Under the direction of the regional police chief and the Gavar police chief, the authorities managed to apprehend Khachatryan, along with the weapon used in the crime. According to the photojournalist, the injured Hakob Harutyunyan is the son of Murad Harutyunyan, the mayor of Noratus, and is currently studying at the Yerevan State University of Economics. The suspect, Hrach Khachatryan, is a second-year student at the Gavar State Agricultural College.
