Zelensky Explains When He Would Call Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has shared in an interview with Focus news outlet under what circumstances he would call Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“I can call him, he will definitely communicate with me,” said Zelensky.

When asked by the journalist why he has not done so yet, Zelensky responded that there is currently no topic for discussion.

The Ukrainian leader added that if the decision to postpone the meeting of advisors from the leaders of the ‘Normandy format’ (Russia, Ukraine, France, Germany) is confirmed, he would certainly talk to the President of Russia.

Zelensky stated that if it helps to end the war more swiftly, the Ukrainian president “must engage with him.”

He emphasized that dialogue should occur both within the framework of the ‘Normandy format’ and directly. “Because there are questions that we do not raise in the ‘Normandy format,’ therefore, we need to have a direct conversation with him,” noted Zelensky.
