Russian Border Guards to Be Deployed in Syunik, No Secret Document Signed - Ministry of Defense
The Minister of Defense stated that no secret document has been signed regarding the borders of Syunik. This was conveyed in an interview with Auroranews by the Ministry of Defense. “There is no secret agreement. Furthermore, during the minister’s visit to Moscow, an agreement was reached with Russian counterparts that will significantly enhance the security of the borders in Syunik.”
When asked for clarification on whether Russian border guards would be present on the borders of Syunik, the ministry responded, “Yes, they will be present, but at this moment we cannot specify which area.” No further details were provided.
It is noteworthy that earlier reports had suggested that Defense Minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan had signed a secret agreement with the Russian side on the orders of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, transferring the protection of Syunik’s positions to the Russian border guards.
