I Am Taking On Serious Executive Responsibilities and Powers in a New Position: Beglaryan

The newly appointed head of the Artsakh Republic's presidential administration, former Human Rights Defender Artak Beglaryan, wrote on his Facebook page: "Dear compatriots,

As officially announced today, I have been appointed as the head of the Artsakh Republic's presidential administration by the decree of the President of the Artsakh Republic, Arayik Harutyunyan.

My decision to accept the proposal to leave the position of Human Rights Defender and take on this role is driven by the current challenges facing Artsakh and the Armenian people, the resulting governance crisis, and my belief that my professional and human potential can be applied more effectively in this position during this time.

I have reluctantly left the status of Human Rights Defender due to the unprecedented challenges in that field as well, but I was also compelled to choose between responsibility and a higher responsibility, between service and more urgent service.

In simpler terms, I am taking on serious executive responsibilities and powers in a new position, instead of the advisory functions of the Human Rights Defender, and there is a significant need for action now.

That is to say, from now on, I will become the chief administrator of the Republic, and I am obliged to ensure the effective operation of the presidential administration, as well as to address numerous crisis issues under its leadership. In the longer term, I aim to make a tangible contribution to ensuring institutional reforms in the governance system.

Those who know me well know that I am an energetic, principled, transparent, and institutional worker, and I will continue in the same style in this new role. My invaluable experience as the Human Rights Defender will help me carry out more valuable and principled activities during this challenging and critical period.

I thank President Arayik Harutyunyan for the trust and opportunity he has given me; this is a chance to serve the people even more, which I will do with great honor and responsibility. I also thank the public for the broad support and confidence shown towards me and the Human Rights Defender's institution.
