Aliyev: These Resolutions Have No Significance for Us

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has stated that he considers the accusations against Baku voiced in the resolutions adopted by several Western countries after the end of the Nagorno-Karabakh war to be unfounded.

“Let the countries that have adopted resolutions against us open their eyes and look. Hypocritical politicians, open your eyes and see. Your parliaments have adopted resolutions. These resolutions have no significance for us; they are just a piece of paper. But again, unfounded accusations are being voiced against us,” Aliyev's words are cited by RIA Novosti, noting that he addressed members of the French, Belgian, and Dutch parliaments.

At the end of November, the French Senate adopted a resolution calling on the government to recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh and demanded the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from the region. After the Senate's decision, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, stated that the unilateral recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh by France would not benefit anyone and would not contribute to progress in the peace process.

It is noteworthy that on December 18, the Belgian House of Representatives condemned the resumption of military actions by Azerbaijan through a specially adopted resolution, while the Dutch parliament approved a proposal in November to impose sanctions against Aliyev and his wife.
