Winter Draft to Begin on December 25: Draft Decision Scheduled for Executive Meeting Agenda

The winter draft for mandatory military and alternative service for citizens of the Republic of Armenia will begin on December 25.

According to Armenpress, the draft decision is included in the agenda of the government meeting scheduled for December 24. The decision states: “To announce the winter draft of the mandatory military and alternative service for male citizens of the Republic of Armenia from December 25, 2020, to March 31, 2021, inclusive, for those citizens who turn 18 years old by December 31, 2020, inclusive, as well as for those citizens whose previously granted deferment from mandatory military service expires by December 31, 2020, inclusive.”

Furthermore, the government decision includes provisions to discharge soldiers who have completed their mandatory military or alternative service by February 14, 2021, in accordance with the law.
