Number of Individuals Departing and Returning to Armenia

According to the newspaper "Zhoghavorud," from January to November of this year, 355,918 passengers departed from Armenia through the "Zvartnots" International Airport, while 367,434 passengers arrived. This information was provided to "Zhoghavorud" by the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia.

From "Shirak" Airport during the same period, 16,328 passengers left, and 16,019 passengers returned. In this time frame, a total of 9,821 tons were shipped out of and 4,664 tons imported through the "Zvartnots" airport.

It is noteworthy that compared to last year, both the number of departing and arriving passengers at the "Zvartnots" and "Shirak" airports has decreased. Some experts attribute this decline in passenger numbers to the impact of the coronavirus.

However, specialists express hope that once the pandemic is resolved, they will be able to quickly mitigate the damages inflicted on tourism and revive the industry. Some tour operators forecast that the threat from the coronavirus will dissipate by the end of April 2021. If the Iranian market becomes active, Armenia could see an influx of tourists from the neighboring country starting in March.

Armenian tour operators are hopeful that at least during the holiday periods, there will be a flow of tourists into Armenia.
