Kotayk Governor Meets with General Education School Principals: Schools Must Be Apolitical Institutions

Kotayk Governor Mesrop Mesropyan held a meeting today with the principals of general education schools under the governance of the regional administration to discuss existing issues and upcoming tasks. The governor also conducted surprise visits to several schools in the Hrazdan city community.

“Today, I met with the principals of general education schools under the regional administration to discuss existing problems and upcoming tasks. Meetings with school leaders and visits to educational institutions will be frequent, and we will try to provide quick and objective solutions to all existing issues. I know that schools have numerous problems—both inherited from the past and formed in the present—we must work to solve them. I will be open to all types of discussions. If there is a problem, we will solve it together.

During the meeting, I particularly emphasized the role of educators in the upbringing of children and, in this context, also highlighted the need for schools to be apolitical institutions. Schools must be apolitical organizations and focus entirely on education, serving their primary purpose. A person, of course, is free in their political views, but these should not have any presence within the walls of the school.

2020 has been a year of heavy trials and challenges, but we do not have the right to break; we must go forward on the path of progress and development, working and acting for the benefit of our country.

After the meeting with the school principals, I conducted surprise visits to Hrazdan community’s Hakob Paronyan Secondary School No. 12, William Saroyan Secondary School No. 11, and High School No. 10. I familiarized myself with the building conditions, existing issues, and the ongoing educational process in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. I urged strict adherence to all anti-epidemic rules, as only this will ensure the continuity of the educational process. I also spoke with the teaching staff and students, reiterating that I am open to discussing any issues and proposals that would lead to more effective school operations,” the governor wrote on his Facebook page.
