Gazprom Negotiates with Turkey to Supply Gas to European Markets via Turkish Stream
The Russian company Gazprom is in discussions with its Turkish partners regarding the potential use of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline to supply gas to European markets. As reported by TASS, Elena Burmistrova, the general director of Gazprom Export, made this announcement.
"We are currently negotiating with our Turkish partners on this issue, addressing the question of how the pipeline will be utilized for deliveries to the European market," she stated.
Previously, she did not rule out that Gazprom may consider transferring a portion of gas volumes transported through the Turkish Stream from the Turkish market to Europe if demand for gas in Turkey decreases.
The Turkish Stream gas pipeline stretches for 930 kilometers and has a capacity of 31.5 billion cubic meters per year. The first line, with a capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters per year, is intended for Turkish consumers, while the second line targets South and Southeastern European countries.
