Formal Allies of the U.S. Benefit from War Against Artsakh, Says ‘Zhamanak’

According to American congressional representatives, a report prepared by the National Intelligence in the coming months should clearly highlight the strategic interests of the United States and its allied states in the region. This raises questions, particularly regarding what is meant by the strategic interests of these allies. The fact is that the U.S.'s formal allies, which pursued interests in the war against Artsakh, were the very instigators and supporters of that war: Turkey and Israel. Georgia, when considered within the category of allies, provided that support.

Thus, if we consolidate the situation, we must acknowledge that the formal allies of the U.S. have benefited from the war against Artsakh, or more precisely, one of them was the combatant and essentially the victor, while the other was the supporter of the war. Regarding Azerbaijan and Armenia, the U.S. views one as a Turkish satellite and the other as a Russian one. Tragically, this is a reality that has persisted since the victory of the first Artsakh war and has not received sufficient attention in Armenia.

And this is while the topic pertains to the world's number one superpower with global influence and its regional strategy, along with the resulting opportunities or risks. To say that Armenia has not examined these circumstances at all would be incorrect. These factors were considered during the presidencies of Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan, as well as during the two and a half years of Nikol Pashinyan's premiership. Certain steps were taken, which, however, have proven to be extremely insufficient in terms of leaving a strategic impact, resulting in reactions from Russia.

As for the Pashinyan period, perhaps the factor of time shortage played a role, although decisions related to economic issues also had a key significance, as their implementation could possess military-political importance for Armenia’s security perspectives.
