Court Orders Safaryan to Apologize to Journalist and Pay 600,000 Dram

The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, presided over by Zaroukhi Nakhshkaryan, has partially satisfied the lawsuit of journalist Takhouhi Aslanyan from Live News. The court has ordered the President of the Public Council, Styopa Safaryan, to apologize to journalist Takhouhi Aslanyan for offensive remarks and to pay 600,000 dram in compensation. This was reported by Aslanyan's lawyer, Lusine Virabyan, on her Facebook page.

The court partially granted the claim because the plaintiff had demanded compensation of 1,000,000 dram, but only 600,000 dram was awarded. According to attorney Virabyan, the judge issued a fair judicial act.

The court decision will take effect one month after publication, during which it can also be appealed to the Court of Cassation of Armenia. If the judgment is not voluntarily executed, it will be enforced through the Judicial Acts Compulsory Enforcement Service at the debtor's expense.
