Artsakh Authorities Appeal to Russia for Assistance in Resettling Displaced Residents

Grigori Martirosyan, the State Minister of the Republic of Artsakh, stated in an interview with RIA Novosti that the Artsakh government has reached out to the Russian government for assistance in relocating displaced residents in the post-war situation. Part of the aid has already been allocated by Moscow.

According to the Artsakh official, around 35,000 to 45,000 residents have been left homeless due to the recent military conflict in the region. This includes not only those whose homes were destroyed as a result of shelling, but also those whose residences have come under the control of Azerbaijan.

“Most of these people are currently in Armenia. Of course, to facilitate their return, we need to ensure at least the minimum necessary living conditions. This is a top priority for the government. We are providing immediate temporary shelter for those who return. We will also utilize hotels and public buildings,” said Martirosyan.

He noted that the Artsakh authorities have also requested assistance from the Russian government. “As of today, this issue is under discussion. Part of the aid has already been allocated, which includes both construction materials and essential goods such as blankets and similar items,” the official added.
