Video Conference Between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Sweden

On December 22, Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Aivazyan held a video conference with Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde. The Swedish Foreign Minister congratulated Minister Aivazyan on his assumption of office and wished him success in his responsible mission.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Sweden expressed satisfaction with the high dynamics of political dialogue, emphasizing their mutual willingness to enhance cooperation in all areas of mutual interest in both bilateral and multilateral formats, including within the framework of the EU Eastern Partnership.

As primary directions, they highlighted strengthening democracy, protecting human rights, and upholding the rule of law. Minister Aivazyan congratulated his Swedish counterpart on taking over the OSCE presidency in 2021.

In the context of regional security and stability, Minister Aivazyan addressed the Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression against the people of Artsakh, which was accompanied by severe and massive human rights violations and war crimes.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the ceasefire establishment in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, the role of peacekeepers, and the progress of implementation of the joint statement of November 9. Both sides stressed the importance of addressing the Nagorno-Karabakh peace settlement within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.

In this context, Minister Aivazyan underscored the priority of restoring and protecting the rights of the Armenian people of Artsakh, including through the establishment of Artsakh's status based on the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination.

Minister Aivazyan also presented the humanitarian situation created in Artsakh, highlighting the involvement of relevant international institutions in overcoming it.
