Property Tax Exemptions in Yerevan for Captured and Missing Persons

The Yerevan City Council has decided to establish property tax exemptions for various social groups. Following an initiative from the "My Step" faction, the list now includes individuals captured or missing since September 27 due to Azerbaijani aggression, who participated in combat operations for the defense of the Republic of Armenia and performed combat duty or special missions along the contact line with the enemy.

These individuals will be exempt from property tax obligations on residential properties owned in Yerevan that are subject to property tax. If they do not own such properties, the exemption will apply to the residential properties where they are registered.

Exemptions have also been established for local fees imposed in 2021. According to the council's decision, children of fallen servicemen and veterans will receive free education in extracurricular institutions in Yerevan (such as music and art schools). For children of parents with first or second group disabilities, the fee will be set at 4,000 drams. The exemptions from 2020 will continue to apply for other groups in 2021 as well.

Kindergarten services will be free for children whose parents or legal representatives are permanently or actually registered in Yerevan. This exemption also extends to children of veterans, fallen veterans, their family members, mandatory military servicemen, and others serving in the armed forces, as well as orphans and children of parents with first or second group disabilities, along with children with disabilities.

Additionally, children of those with displaced person status, refugees, or asylum seekers in Armenia will also be eligible for these exemptions.

No local parking fees will be charged for individuals with disabilities or their vehicles for transport. Owners of electric vehicles will also be exempted from parking fees.

Today, the Yerevan Council also approved a decision regarding the confirmation of the 2021 Yerevan Development Program.
