Former Husband Threatens Murder, Violates Apartment's Sanctity. Case Goes to Court

The investigation by the Investigative Committee of Armenia's Armavir Regional Investigative Department regarding the case of making threats of murder and violating the sanctity of an apartment has been completed.

According to the data obtained during the investigation, disputes related to jealousy frequently occurred between a 53-year-old resident of Yerevan and his 43-year-old wife during their life together, which ultimately led to their divorce. After the divorce, the wife began living with other family members on a rental basis in the Armavir region.

On July 2, 2020, at around 11:30 AM, the man went to his former wife's home to clarify personal matters. Upon seeing that the gate was closed, he climbed over the backyard fence, entered the yard, and knocked on the door, demanding it be opened. However, the woman refused, stating she did not want to see or speak with her ex-husband.

In response to her rejection and contrary to her will, the former husband illegally entered the apartment, breaking a window with his fist, entered, shouted obscenities, and threatened the woman with a knife-like object, saying he would kill her if she did not live with him.

Based on the gathered evidence, charges have been brought against the ex-husband under part 1 of Article 137 of the RA Criminal Code (threat of murder, causing severe harm to health, or destroying property) and part 1 of Article 147 (violation of the sanctity of an apartment), with the preventive measure chosen being a signature not to leave.

The investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to court with an accusatory conclusion.
