Azerbaijani Forces Give Residents in Vorotan One Hour to Vacate Their Home
Residents of one house in the Vorotan settlement of Syunik Province have been given one hour by Azerbaijani forces to vacate their property. This information was reported to NEWS.am by Surik Ohanyan, the administrative head of the Vorotan community.
He stated that Azerbaijani forces were demarcating the area using GPS when they determined that one of the houses also falls under Azerbaijani territory.
"They are saying it is our territory, and we are saying it is ours. This is a legal structure, and everything is documented. We went for negotiations with the Russian border guards and the Azerbaijanis. We concluded that both sides should leave the area until the head of the Russian border guards discusses this issue with their superiors, and they will then understand to whom it belongs," Ohanyan explained.
Ohanyan described the building in question as follows: “It is a two-story structure, part of which is a residential home, and part is an unfinished café. Now the family members are no longer there due to safety concerns.”
When asked about the current mood in the village, Ohanyan said, “If they are advancing meter by meter every day and the Azeri gives one hour, panic automatically begins.”
