Trilateral Agreement to Be Signed If Necessary: Tonoyan-Shoygu Phone Conversation Held
On the evening of November 17, Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan held phone conversations with Russian Defense Minister, Army General Sergey Shoygu.
During the talks, the ministers discussed the operational situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh region and current issues related to the activities of the Russian peacekeeping contingent. The Armenian defense minister expressed gratitude to his counterpart for the rapid and effective deployment of the peacekeeping unit, as well as for organizing efforts to discover and exchange the bodies of fallen servicemen, captives, and missing persons.
Special attention was drawn to the humanitarian situation that has developed in Nagorno-Karabakh. The Armenian defense minister expressed his support for the establishment of a Russian Interagency Humanitarian Response Center in the region, which is expected to handle issues related to the return of refugees, the restoration of civilian infrastructure, search operations for the deceased, captives, and missing persons, and the coordination of activities of various organizations in the humanitarian sector.
Agreement was reached to sign a trilateral document between the defense ministries of the Russian Federation, Armenia, and Azerbaijan if necessary in this area.
