Martakert Residents Caught Off Guard: One Day to Evacuate Their Homes
Residents of several villages in the Martakert region of Artsakh received news yesterday evening that they have one day to evacuate their belongings. This was reported by Panorama.am.
Edgar Hovhannisyan, a resident of the village of Hovtashen, who has been sheltering at the home of relatives in Artashat, is currently hurrying back to Artsakh to understand what has changed between the announcements to 'return home' and 'evacuate homes quickly.'
“The village mayor called and said there is an evacuation; come and take whatever you have. It’s not just Hovtashen; the same situation applies to Karmiravan, Nor Maragha, Nor Aigeustan, and Nor Seysulan. These areas have at times belonged to Aghdam, which is why they are being evacuated, but until now, they had been saying it was safe, come back. Yesterday, women from our village moved with their children to live elsewhere. They reached their destination, and after six-thirty yesterday, the administration called the village mayor and said that the village must be vacated,” Edgar Hovhannisyan shared in an interview with the media.
