Russian Peacekeepers Talk About Their Reception in Karabakh
Residents of the Republic of Artsakh have responded positively to Russian peacekeepers and have high hopes for their assistance, stated Deputy Commander of the Russian Armed Forces peacekeeping contingent in Karabakh, Colonel Alexey Polyukhovich, as reported by RIA Novosti.
“Local residents received our peacekeeping contingent very positively. They hope that with our arrival, peaceful life will return,” he said.
According to him, normal life is gradually resuming in the capital of Artsakh, Stepanakert. Transportation communications for the residents of Artsakh have been organized through the Lachin corridor both towards Armenia and in the return direction. Polyukhovich noted that civilian transport operates solely under the escort of peacekeepers.
“As we were told, with the arrival of peacekeepers, we felt protected, we breathed a sigh of relief that we are indeed being defended... Everyone is saying, ‘Since Russian peacekeepers have come, it will be calmer for us here,’” Stepanakert resident Natalia Petrosyan told reporters.
