Andranik Kocharyan Is Not the Government Official Authorized to Expect Reports on the Use of Su-30s

Regarding the use of aircraft during the recent military operations, Mr. Kocharyan is not the government official whose position allows him to expect reports on whether Su-30s were used, whether they fulfilled combat tasks, how many flights were conducted with them, and related inquiries. This was stated in a release by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.

On November 16, during a briefing with journalists in the National Assembly, Andranik Kocharyan, Chairman of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Defense and Security, made remarks concerning the use of Su-30SM aircraft acquired by Armenia during the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh. Notably, Mr. Kocharyan expressed his comments in an evidently ironic tone, particularly “reminding” that Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan was “involved, sitting” with the Su-30s.

It is necessary to emphasize that the content and tone of the statements made are not appropriate for a high-ranking government official. Moreover, the ceremonial event for the welcome of the mentioned aircraft in Armenia was held under the leadership of the Prime Minister of the Republic.

As for the use of aircraft during the recent military operations, Mr. Kocharyan is not the government official whose position allows him to expect reports on whether Su-30s were used, whether they fulfilled combat tasks, how many flights were conducted with them, and related inquiries. We assure that all officials who are supposed to receive these reports are thoroughly informed about the answers to these questions,” the statement reads.
