Ten Checkpoints Established Along the Nagorno-Karabakh Contact Line and Lachin Corridor
A convoy of units from the 15th separate peacekeeping brigade of the Russian armed forces, which arrived to participate in the peacekeeping operation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, has moved from Goris to Stepanakert. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, this convoy includes armored personnel carriers, transport vehicles, and logistical support that had previously been delivered from Russia via Il-76 military transport aircraft to the 'Erebuni' airport.
The advanced units of the peacekeeping brigade conducted a march along the routes of Goris, Susi, Kachanz Tal, Lisagor mountain pass, and southwestern outskirts of Shushi, and have begun to establish 4 checkpoints in the ‘South’ area of responsibility. The units of the peacekeeping troops are establishing control over the Lachin corridor and a section of the Lachin road by installing 6 temporary checkpoints.
In total, 10 checkpoints have been established along the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh and the Lachin corridor. These checkpoints are tasked with collecting information on ceasefire violations, relaying this information to the peacekeeping forces' command in a timely manner, ensuring the safety of transit traffic, and suppressing any illegal actions against the civilian population. This will contribute to a peaceful life and facilitate the quick return of refugees.
The military police units, which are part of the peacekeeping force, will also carry out tasks in the area of the peacekeeping operation. They are responsible for patrolling along the contact line between the parties and escorting motor convoys. The peacekeeping contingent is equipped with modern weapons and military and special equipment.
