Kremlin Explains Why Moscow Accepted Baku's Apology for Downed Mi-24 Helicopter
The spokesperson for the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, has commented on the incident involving the downing of a Russian Mi-24 helicopter by Azerbaijan, stating that the immediate response from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the willingness to conduct an impartial investigation and hold those responsible accountable allowed Moscow to accept Baku's apology. This was reported by Tert.am.
"This is truly a disaster, a tragedy. Two of our servicemen have died. In this case, it is evident that the Azerbaijani's prompt reaction, the immediate response from the President of Azerbaijan, and the willingness to carry out an impartial investigation and punish those responsible allowed for the acceptance of these apologies," Peskov said in an interview with RT's Russian YouTube channel.
It is recalled that the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Mi-24 helicopter, which crashed near the town of Yeraskh in Armenia, was shot down.
