Borrell Highlights the Importance of Preserving Cultural Heritage in Artsakh
The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, has had a telephone conversation with the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, during which he emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage in Artsakh. This was stated in a press release from the EU External Action Service, as reported by TASS.
Borrell expressed hope that the cessation of hostilities would allow efforts towards a sustainable peaceful resolution of the conflict and prevent further human suffering. He highlighted that the EU is prepared to continue providing humanitarian assistance to meet the needs of the civilian population affected by the conflict, having already allocated nearly 1 million euros for emergency aid.
Furthermore, Borrell emphasized the EU's commitment to continue supporting the format established by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. He reiterated that the EU is ready to contribute to these efforts and to the implementation of agreements that would lead to lasting peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus region.
