Accelerated Infrastructure Restoration Works Underway in Artsakh

The operational headquarters of the Artsakh government in the Republic of Armenia is in daily communication with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia to regulate the living conditions of Artsakh residents temporarily located in Armenia. During a press conference held at the Armenian News Agency 'Armenpress,' the Minister of Labor, Social Affairs, and Housing of the Artsakh Republic, Mikael Virabyan, who coordinates the activities of the operational headquarters of the Artsakh government in Armenia, noted that all raised issues and alerts are conveyed appropriately.

“I urge our citizens not to adhere to the principle that they must necessarily be accommodated in Yerevan. The ministry has adopted a policy whereby living opportunities are offered to those citizens and their families who have chronic illnesses or injured soldiers. The aim is that they can receive appropriate medical assistance,” Mikael Virabyan stated.

He assured that there are currently no citizens left homeless or on the street. Everyone is being provided with accommodation, including hotels, guesthouses, and private apartments. Mikael Virabyan mentioned that projects are being prepared to relieve the financial obligations of those who have hosted and assisted the Artsakh residents. The state will cover utility payments related to hotels and guesthouses.

Addressing the strategy for those Artsakh residents who cannot return to their settlements because they are not under the control of the Armenian armed forces, Mikael Virabyan recalled the words of Artsakh President Araik Harutyunyan: “Soon, we will all convince ourselves that the Republic of Artsakh will become a pleasant place to live. This means that all efforts will be made in that direction. I want to emphasize that housing issues will be resolved in the territories of Artsakh on a priority basis,” he said.

At the same time, Mikael Virabyan informed that quite active work is being carried out in Artsakh to eliminate the consequences of the war. Specifically, priority work is focused on restoring infrastructure such as water supply, gas supply, electricity, and more. He expressed confidence that within 15-20 days, these issues will be resolved in the capital and surrounding regions.
