6200 Police Officers Deployed to Artsakh Amid War: 28 Officers Killed, 150 Wounded, 43 Missing

From the first days of the war, around 3000 police officers were sent to the front lines in shifts. The Armenian Police has issued a statement regarding this.

The statement also notes: “They participated in the defense battles of Karvachar, Haterk, Jrarakan, and Berdzor. Heavy battles were fought especially in the areas adjacent to the Shushi-Lisagor highway, during which the police units suffered 2 fatalities, 26 injuries, and as of now, 42 officers are considered missing.”

The special operations of the police were also extremely important in detecting and neutralizing terrorist groups invading Artsakh, preventing them from reaching the rear.

Officers from the central apparatus of the police, the special forces department, the patrol service battalion, and all regional and territorial units also joined the defense of the Homeland. An additional 3200 police officers were sent to Artsakh in several rotations, of whom 26 have fallen, 124 have been injured, and 1 is still considered missing. They were located in various areas of Jrarakan, Berdzor, Shushi, and Martakert.

Sadly, throughout the war, a total of 28 dedicated police officers of the nation fell, 150 were wounded, and as of now, 43 police officers are considered missing. Glory and eternal remembrance to all our compatriots who fell for the defense of the Fatherland!

Additionally, about 1000 police officers from the police troops and territorial units participated in the defense of the borders of the Republic of Armenia, while simultaneously fulfilling their immediate duties within the country. Crimes were prevented and detected, public order and safety were maintained, including traffic regulations, and consistent work was carried out to ensure adherence to sanitary rules. Military personnel and volunteer units were escorted to the front lines, and police officers were involved in organizing mobilization efforts, among other responsibilities.

Unfortunately, the presence of a large number of police forces at the front lines allowed for the unrest that occurred in Yerevan on the night of November 10. We assure that all organizers and perpetrators of those events will be identified and held accountable.
