Government Imposes Ban on Imports of Turkish-Origin Goods
The Government of the Republic of Armenia has imposed a temporary ban on the import of goods of Turkish origin intended for final consumption, according to the decision No. 1708-N dated October 20, 2020. The ban will come into effect on December 31, 2020. This was announced by the office of Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.
“The restriction on the import of Turkish-origin goods primarily carries a security component, considering the numerous established facts indicating that Turkey openly supports and backs Azerbaijan in its waged war and terrorism activities against the Artsakh Republic. By banning the import of Turkish-origin goods, we are halting the financial resources to the Turkish state treasury from Armenian sources, while also preventing potential dangers from entering Armenia through the import of goods from an unfriendly country,” the statement said.
