Armenia Has Opportunity to Import Gasoline from Kazakhstan on Preferential Terms

Armenia has the opportunity to import gasoline from Kazakhstan on preferential terms. "The fact that the agreement is in force and that there is a possibility to import from Kazakhstan is a fact. This opportunity is already in effect," said Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan in an interview with the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper.

It is noteworthy that the Kazakh authorities have eliminated export duties on petroleum products for everyone as of April 1 this year, due to the decline in oil prices. However, these duties may be reinstated later, which will not affect Armenia.

Additionally, on July 2, the Armenian government approved the signing of an agreement on the supply of petroleum products and the development of trade and economic relations between Armenia and Kazakhstan.

According to this agreement, Armenia will gain a new alternative source for importing light petroleum products (gasoline, diesel fuel) from Kazakhstan, which will be exempt from export customs duties. Interestingly, the same privilege also applies to similar supplies from Russia," the newspaper reports.
