Ceasefire in Some Areas While Attempts to Breach Defense Lines Persist: Davit Babayan

Davit Babayan, an advisor to the President of the Republic of Artsakh, stated during a press conference: “There are directions where the adversary continues its insidious, anti-Armenian policy, attempting to breach the Defense Army’s defenses in certain areas.”

He highlighted that Turkey, Azerbaijan, and terrorists are striving to take control of the strategically significant reservoir built on the Araks River, either to neutralize it or bring it under their control, thereby gaining leverage over Iran in the future. “It is natural that all such actions are being repelled and pushed back. In my opinion, the adversary will continue its active operations in certain areas. One of the main targets is the reservoir built on the Araks River, which primarily addressed Iran's needs,” Babayan mentioned.

Babayan also noted that the active operations of terrorists stationed in Azerbaijan continue. “They are infiltrating into the territory of the Russian Federation in several groups, and the same is occurring at the Iranian border,” he said.

Commenting on the efforts of the international community directed towards a ceasefire, Babayan assessed them positively. “First and foremost are the efforts of our brotherly Russia aimed at restoring the ceasefire and halting the war. If this time the adversary does not respect the international community's efforts and cancels the ceasefire regime once again, then the ceasefire will be restored by the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group through much harsher and different methods the third time around.”

He indicated that a critical sanitary situation has arisen in certain frontline areas. “There are so many casualties from Azerbaijan, Turkey, and terrorist forces that there is already a serious sanitary problem,” he remarked.

Addressing the statements made by certain Azerbaijani officials regarding the maintenance of the ceasefire, Babayan responded, “This ceasefire is indefinite, although some Azerbaijani officials claim it lasts only a few days. There is no such thing. If they claim it will last a few days, then they aim to resume aggressive actions after those few days.”

Babayan concluded by indicating that there are fierce battles ongoing in the southern direction. “The Defense Army and volunteers are successfully repulsing the attacks,” he added.
